Its a sad day in Hollywoodland...One of my favorite funny ladies has passed away this morning. Estelle Getty aka Sophia Petrillo (from Golden Girls) was just 84. Getty has been struggling with advanced dementia & health problems for years. Its very upsetting news to me because I grew up watching her since I was 5. Sophia is one of my favorite tv characters of all time, always spot on with the one-line zingers, never backing down from a fight, and she was always right. Golden Girls really would not have kept my attention had she not been on it. She was a phenomenal actress and her life story is truly inspirational.
Rest in peace Ms. Getty, you will be missed.
