Due to my undying quest for consumer knowledge, I thought I'd give the "European's secret"(Smooth Away) a shot. No, I didn't waste my time or money on the tv ordering nonsense, I just bought it at the drug store, like a normal person.
Here is my experience:
It says in the instructions: 3 rotations clockwise and 3 counterclockwise, and it will effectively remove unwanted hair. Not so, it took several passes with the large buffing pad to remove anything- approximately one hour for both arms. After all of that buffing, I developed a dry skin rash (small bumps up & down my arms).
The instructions note that your skin will look a bit dry after use, and to put a strong moisturizer to diminish the dryness. I did this and it BURNED the HELL out of my ARMS!!
2 days later, and the dry skin rash is still here- although the little bumps have evolved into microscopic scabs-like sandpaper! My skin is now more sensitive and dryer than before.
Because it only took 3 days for the little sprigs and stumps of hair to return, it is very difficult for me to see how this is any better than dry shaving my arms with a dull & rusty razor on a hot summer day in the Mojave.
My overall grading for this product is an F--
