The world's favorite dancing inmates are at it again. This time they were teamed up with MJ's choreographer Travis Payne, and dancers Daniel Celebre and Dres Reid. If you've seen "This Is It" you would know this is how MJ imagined this awesome dance scene- but had to make this routine with cgi replicated people. Although some might see this as an exploitative move by DVD marketing team, this is definitely a once in a lifetime opportunity for these inmates! I think it's beautiful!

I Feel So Used...

Due to my undying quest for consumer knowledge, I thought I'd give the "European's secret"(Smooth Away) a shot. No, I didn't waste my time or money on the tv ordering nonsense, I just bought it at the drug store, like a normal person.

Here is my experience:

It says in the instructions: 3 rotations clockwise and 3 counterclockwise, and it will effectively remove unwanted hair. Not so, it took several passes with the large buffing pad to remove anything- approximately one hour for both arms. After all of that buffing, I developed a dry skin rash (small bumps up & down my arms).

The instructions note that your skin will look a bit dry after use, and to put a strong moisturizer to diminish the dryness. I did this and it BURNED the HELL out of my ARMS!!

2 days later, and the dry skin rash is still here- although the little bumps have evolved into microscopic scabs-like sandpaper! My skin is now more sensitive and dryer than before.

Because it only took 3 days for the little sprigs and stumps of hair to return, it is very difficult for me to see how this is any better than dry shaving my arms with a dull & rusty razor on a hot summer day in the Mojave.

My overall grading for this product is an F--

Penguins Given Equal Rights, American Rights Still Denied

Since the discovery six years ago of the gay relationship between Central Park Zoo's Silo and Roy (pictured above), several gay penguin relationships have been discovered in zoos around the world- from America, to Germany, and most recently, China's Polar Land Zoo. It is not just some trendy fad, it's for real. These male couples have the strong urge to be together and nest, often incubating rocks, or in some cases, stolen eggs from other penguin couples.

Though each of the above named zoos had contemplated breaking up the couples, they have been met with strong protest, and the fact that the gay penguin couples make nurturing and loving parents has been undeniable. Roy & Silo have successfully fathered a very healthy young female penguin, and no, she did not turn out gay like her parents.

The gay Polar Land penguins had to be separated from the rest of the penguins during hatching season (to prevent any unnecessary egg stealing) and were given two eggs of first time mothers.

According to the zookeeper, "They've turned out to be the best parents in the whole zoo," and "We will try to arrange for them to become real parents themselves with artificial insemination."

It is so great that we can accept the sexual orientation of penguins, I only wish that we could be as open minded about our fellow humans.

Pats re-sign Gutierrez to practice squad

Foxboro, MA (Sports Network) - The New England Patriots have re-signed quarterback Matt Gutierrez to the practice squad, giving the team three quarterbacks in the absence of the injured Tom Brady.

With Brady out for the season because of a knee injury, Matt Cassel has assumed the starter's role with rookie Kevin O'Connell as the primary backup and, currently, the only other quarterback on the active roster.

Gutierrez was among the club's last cuts on August 30, losing the battle with Cassel and O'Connell in the preseason to be Brady's backup. He originally signed as a rookie free agent out of Idaho State in May 2007 and spent last year as the third-string quarterback, playing five games and completing one pass for 15 yards.

The Patriots also signed punter Tom Malone to the practice squad and released defensive back Mark Dillard from the practice squad.

Big Foot or Big Faux?

A press conference is scheduled tomorrow for the individuals who "found" a big foot in a Georgian forest, while on a hunting trip. They claim this is an actual photo of the 500lb beast they are storing in a freezer. They claimed they saw others walking upright, but were only able to capture this one. During the press conference the Bigfoot trappers will present the "DNA" that they and other unnamed scientists have tested to determine the species of this apelike man. Being a Northwest native, I want to believe that Bigfoot exists- there are a lot of woods that have yet been uncovered- hence the great gorilla discovery late last week. Bigfoot could be real, he really could- but is this really a photo of his dead carcass? I have my doubts...

If I were invisible

The science fiction story of a man who could completely disappear with the use of a special cloak, has just been deemed a non-fiction reality. News broke early this week that scientists have in fact discovered a solution to the ever pressing problem of visibility. I never knew that it was such a problem, or that there were even teams of scientists working to solve it. Crooks, pervs and murderers will be thrilled!

Well, though I do not fall into any of the above categories, I am equally, if not more anxious about this fabric's debut than anyone. Honestly, if I had an extra $200,000 laying around, I would have considered using it to take a trip into space with Paul Allen, but now that I know that my other fantasy is closer to my fingertips- my priorities have shifted- I will buy an invisible cloak because:
a.) its more cost effective- I can use it over and over
b.) I don't have to share it with anyone
c.) though encountering extraterrestrials is somewhere on my list of things to do before I die, invisibility just seems so much safer.

I might not be a criminal or have any mastermind schemes up my sleeve for this cloak, but I will tell you, owning one of these babies will never get old. There are so many cool things you can do!
1. Go to work naked
2. Trip people on the sidewalk
3. Drive- just to see the looks on the faces of people thinking the car is driving itself
4. Pretend I'm a ghost
5. Scare people
6. Sneak onto airplanes for free trips
7. I can be rude and still maintain my squeaky clean image

Island of the Apes

Early last week scientists discovered an island occupied by 150,000 lowland gorillas. Though the ape population of the Congo had originally been believed to be as low as 50,000 due to an ebola outbreak, scientists are pleased with the finding that brings the devastated population numbers up to over 200,000. This is really exciting news but a great reminder that they are still in great danger of extinction, as are over 70% of ape species. The greatest threat to our primate relatives is in fact, ourselves. Human activity has been proven to be the cause of the dwindling populations.

To keep this on a lighter note, it is a great possibility that this discovery is not the only "secret" yet uncovered by scientists.

"I think the lesson for conservationists today is that, yes, the world is full of surprises. There's a lot of uncharted territory there in central Africa, there may be other populations," Jillian Miller, executive director of the Gorilla Organization, an international conservation group. said in an interview with CNN.

Asked how such a huge population of gorillas could go unnoticed by scientists, Miller said: "We're talking about the Congo Basin rainforest here. It is vast, it is huge, it's second only to the Amazon. And it's impenetrable."

Cool- assuming that they will leave these creatures in their natural habitats and not take groups in for testing & experiments, I am excited to see what they find next!

Its a sad day in Hollywoodland...One of my favorite funny ladies has passed away this morning. Estelle Getty aka Sophia Petrillo (from Golden Girls) was just 84. Getty has been struggling with advanced dementia & health problems for years. Its very upsetting news to me because I grew up watching her since I was 5. Sophia is one of my favorite tv characters of all time, always spot on with the one-line zingers, never backing down from a fight, and she was always right. Golden Girls really would not have kept my attention had she not been on it. She was a phenomenal actress and her life story is truly inspirational.

Rest in peace Ms. Getty, you will be missed.

They found the body of what is believed to be the missing "flying priest", Adelir Antonio de Carli, this weekend. The man's body was found floating 60 miles off shore of the Rio De Janiero and is equipped in the same suiting and shoes that were worn by the priest on the day he disappeared while floating over the Atlantic Ocean with hundreds of helium balloons. DNA testing is being done on the body to find out if it is in fact the same person. He has been missing for two months now. Hopefully he's still alive in the jungle somewhere, but if not, at least his family and friends have the opportunity to say their goodbyes, give their final blessings, and lay his body to rest.

I don't even know where to begin, but this is what happens when people only see the green and not the people that they are affecting. Yeah, its the new Oklahoma owners and the NBA Commissioner putting unrealistic requests upon the city and the state which caused this great upset. Our resources are strapped and they would not budge. I hate to say this, but I am blaming this WHOLE MESS on Howard Schultz for selling the team to them in the first place. From this day forward I will never forgive that ass-clown for making one of the biggest mistakes in Seattle history- a close second to the guy who burned down the entire city of Seattle in 1889.

Having Mr. Starbucks take away one of the great things that made me proud of my hometown, has led me to turn my back on another. From this day forward I will do my damndest to avoid purchasing anything from Starbucks FOREVER. Its an ambitious yet totally necessary evil.

How could the same guy that put Seattle's coffee on the map turn around and sell our hometeam? Why? Because the Sonics weren't raking in the same kind of dough that his 40 million Starbucks stores did? How could he not realize that professional sports aren't just about the money, they're about community spirit and pride. I know the Sonics have never been consistent over the years, but they never failed in providing a forum for people to come together and rally for the big win, whether they could pull it off or not. It was such a positive feeling being surrounded by fellow fans cheering and rooting for the same cause. I am truly going to miss that.

When I heard the news this week that Starbucks is going to close 600 of its stores, I got a little optimistic that maybe the universe might have a way of righting its wrongs. Mr. Schultz has gotten too big for his britches and I am glad to see him start to pay the price. He's never going to live this one down.

Brazilian priest Adelir Antonio de Carli disappeared after taking helium induced joyride from the port city of Paranagua on April 20th, 2008.

The 41 year-old priest was hoping to break a 19 hour balloon flight record in order to raise money for a spiritual rest stop for truck drivers.

De Carli reached 20,000 feet before dropping to 8,200 feet aiming to land in the city of Dourados, 465 miles north-west of his starting point. He missed his target and drifted over the Atlantic Ocean.

Just eight hours after take off, the port authorities declared him missing. Fishing boats, helicopters and members of the Navy went on the hunt, hoping to find De Carli floating in the water.

Unfortunately, this week, some of De Carli's balloons were spotted floating 30 miles offshore in the Atlantic Ocean.

Although he was equipped with a thermal suit, helmet, and parachute, many fear he may not have survived.

Navy chiefs have officially called off the search this week, while many well wishers cling to the hope and pray that he may still be alive.

Family and friends of De Carli have since rented an airplane to continue their efforts to find him.

According to People Magazine, New Kids on the Block are back together just in time to celebrate their 20th anniversary of their first big hit, Hangin' Tough!! Their website nkotb.com has been updated to show just a countdown clock, as of right now just three days remain until...well, I guess we'll find out! Rumor has it that they will be making their first live performance on the Today Show this Friday. I double checked the Today Show website and don't see anything on their concert schedule mentioning the NKOTB reunion, but I am assuming that is all part of the mystery....They're definitely keeping us on our toes. It is also rumored that NKOTB is planning a tour! For the record, I am extremely excited to hear about this because they were my favorite band and my very first crushes. I wish them nothing but the best!

Seattle's rising hip hop scene is making a strong case for itself with new talent and true, timeless hip hop beats. Joining the ranks of The Blue Scholars, Gabriel Teodoros, and Cancer Rising, The Physics are paving their way onto the scene with their first album, Future Talk.

This group is one of my favorites because their music is so pure and they keep it fun while staying true to who they are. They remind me of the older days of hip hop when the music was not so forced, when people didn't have to pretend like they were sociopaths or that they had a lot of money & cars to sell records.

People are taking notice to the uniqueness of this crew and The Physics have managed to stay on the Top 10 Hip Hop charts for one of the nation's leading indie radio stations, KEXP 90.3 in Seattle, for the last 3 months. That's no minor feat considering the number of new artists that KEXP samples every day.

A Reason to Celebrate

Chinta & Towan Celebrate their 40th Birthday!
Seattle's Woodland Park Zoo will be celebrating the 40th Birthdays of their twin orangutans, Chinta & Towan, with a party this Saturday from 11am- 12:30pm.

Chinta & Towan were born at the Woodland Park Zoo in February 1968 and have since seen it evolve from a hardened concrete fortress into a luxurious green playground. They have also accumulated a group of playmates to keep them company in their daily adventures.

Chinta & Towan's birth was celebrated in Life magazine as the first known occurance of an orangutan twin birth in captivity. They are now amongst some of the oldest orangutans to be born and raised in captivity, with the oldest usually living into their late 50's.

Get the chance to celebrate this very special occasion with the orangutans, their friends, and zoo family. Orangutans will have a traditional party with presents and cupcakes.

The party is free with zoo admission. Visitors will receive cupcakes (while supplies last), an opportunity to meet the keepers and hear about the day-to-day quality care provided for the great apes, a photo collage of the twins, an orangutan discovery box with fascinating facts and items, and a FREE raffle for a commemorative art piece hand painted by orangutan Towan. (Towan's art pieces normally range between $600-$720).

Howard the Duck has been sharing his adventures with us for decades thanks to his co-creator, Steve Gerber. Sadly, Gerber passed away on Sunday. Marvel has a great team that may continue to work on the comic, but Gerber will definitely be missed.

Our President wants us to repair the economy that he destroyed. This time his request is more welcome than ever because we are finally going to get some of our hard earned money back!! Congress approved the economic stimulous plan and Bush signed the bill yesterday, which means all of this talk is finally going to be put into action. Although it is only a temporary fix for the economic turmoil that we are facing, it will make a world of difference for a lot of hard working families.

The 168 billion dollar measure will provide most households anywhere between $300 and $1200. The checks are due to mail out in May.

It may be too little too late, but I am not going to complain too much this time.

CANBERRA (Reuters) - A drunken man's threat to blow up half a city with his television remote control forced Australian police to declare a state of emergency at a luxury golf resort, a local court heard Thursday.

Geoffrey Martin Fryatt, 57, a resident of the Fairways Golf and Lifestyle Retreat in Brisbane, was arrested by elite paramilitary police after terrifying neighbors with a knife and threatening to detonate a store of chemicals with the TV remote.

"One push of the button will blow up half of Brisbane," Fryatt shouted in the standoff last May before police in the Queensland state capital opened fire with rubber bullets.

Fryatt's lawyer told the Brisbane District Court that his client lost control after losing much of his life savings in a fraud carried out by his finance broker, local media said.

"People are genuinely scared of sudden explosions," the judge said, sentencing Fryatt to a year's probation. "Frightening members of the public with threats of bombs and bomb hoaxes has a much greater impact than it once did," she said.

Fryatt accepted probation, but said he was concerned it could interrupt plans to travel overseas to do humanitarian aid work, the Brisbane Times newspaper reported.

"Let's get you right before we send you off to a third world country," the judge said.

Yay for Britney! She has been released from her required hospital stay. Now that she has had the medical attention that she so desperately needed, let's pray that she can successfully recover and get her life back together.

I was never really a fan of hers, come to think of it, I found humor in the daily adventures of Britney's life ever since the head shaving incident. But let's face it, things in her world were turned so far upside down that it wasn't even funny anymore. The paparazzi and her "friends" had gotten so far out of hand that her life has been in serious danger for the last few months. I know that bipolar disorder can make you act a little off, but mix drugs, emotional anguish, sleep deprivation, and a healthy dose of paranoia, and you've got yourself a whole heap of trouble. I am happy that her parents are back in the picture and that they are doing their best to keep the negative influences away from her. Hopefully they will eventually be able to do something about that exploiting-ass paparazzo boyfriend of hers...

Shaquille Up for a Big Move

My favorite NBA personality, Shaquille O'Neal is up for a big trade between the Miami Heat and the Phoenix Suns. What does this mean? Well, for one thing, it means he will have to depart his young protege, Dwayne Wade. On the other hand, it will boost the Phoenix Suns' roster and make winning the National Championships a lot more likely. As you may be familiar, Steve Nash has been breaking his back making the Suns every bit as successful as they could be, yet they never seem to make it past the playoffs. The Suns have speed, but they need more "size" to be able to push around weight in the paint.

It has been noted that this move also means that Shaq will be playing his arch nemesis and former protege Kobe Bryant a lot more often since they will finally be in the same division. This will prove to be a very welcome bullying on the Lakers, as I have grown to detest that franchise and all that it stands for...particularly that little weasel Kobe who thinks the world should bow down to his mediocre feet. I can't wait until Shaq comes back to the West coast to put him in his place! Anyway, nothing is official yet, Shaq is getting his physical done today in Arizona, and after the results come in, they will make the decision.

What does Kobe have to say about it? He told the Los Angeles Times "I know he likes warm weather. Other than that, I don't think too much about it."

Liar, liar, I bet he is shaking in his Nike's. Keep your fingers crossed the trade goes through!

Mississippi Legislature Introduces Bill that Would Ban Restaurants from Serving the Obese

Republican Rep. John Read of Gautier, Mississippi has proposed a bill banning obese people from being served in restaurants. Read has cited obesity as Mississippi's number one problem and would like to see a solution in action.

According to a 2007 study by the Trust for America's Health, an alarming 30% of adults in the state of Mississippi are obese. In relation to the rest of the states, Mississippi is amongst the unhealthiest states in our nation.

Representative Read's controversial bill has already been met with strong opposition from the State House Public Health Committee.

Despite the discriminatory overtones, I think this bill could actually help to dissolute the obesity issue and health problems in their state. What do you think?

A valiant effort by the producers of American Idol to suck the life back into Paula's singing career seemed not to do much to resuscitate it. After much hype of a SuperBowl appearance, it was later publicized that Paula's performance had to be pre-recorded due to "stage fright." I am not sure if I believe that. She has been performing all of her life, when did she have time to develop stage fright? Paula had ample opportunity to bring her A game to the pre-taped show, yet I was left unimpressed. She can have credit for dancing better than Britney, but it will never outweigh the fact that her vocals sounded like they came from a tin can. And well, her lipsyncing was not very convincing. Yes, I believe she was lipsyncing...notice how they never show close up shots of her face? Word on the street is that her album is actually pretty good, as far as heavily produced dance music goes, but I don't see her coming back anywhere near where she was twenty years ago. Do you?

Congratulations to Eli Manning and the New York Giants! The New England Patriot's perfect season and legacy have finally been brought to a screeching hault by their least expected opponent, a wildcard team who came in as the lowest seed in their division. The Giants have had a trying season, and this no doubt, was a Cinderella story that we all wanted to see come true. Eli Manning has long lived in the shadow of his older brother Payton Manning's successful career with the Indianapolis Colts. Now it's finally Eli's time to shine and a moment to celebrate a family legacy. Never in NFL history have two brothers been dubbed SuperBowl MVP's consecutively. The Giants came in as the underdogs in this David vs. Goliath match up and have come out as America's unsung heroes. I congratulate them for their heart and resilience to prove all those statisticians, sports commentators, and the Patriots followers WRONG. They are worthy opponents and they deserve all the success in the world.

Well, maybe not all of my life, but since early childhood I can recall peeling off the stickers to impress my family with my keen intelligence. Now that I'm a grown up, that silly trick won't fly. I can see how this can benefit the most devout eyeglass fan, seeing as you will never have the discomfort of those pesky ear pieces ever again. Bristle Bot: Toothbrush Robot

This is such a great idea. I had tried one of these before, but it was with a Lego car and a much larger motor, lets just say it didn't work as nicely as this swift little device. I am amazed at how fast the Bristle Bot can move and how simple the design is. Looks like I've got myself a weekend project!
